For fi nish sanding the best fi nish is usually achieved with a slow to moderate feed rate. This allows for the most revolutions of the drum per inch of sanding. I have a Performax 36 X2 drum sander. For years now I have had the problem with the drive belt not tracking and I am determined to fix it. I know I am not the only one as my friend has the same machine with the same problem. I have tried everything, particularly with drive belt tensioning on the end it is tracking towards.

Dec 22, 2013 Ive got a 16-44 Performax I bought in 1994 and its never tracked dead on. I finally gave up on it and let it track where it wanted to. The conveyor belt is actually nothing more than a sanding belt for a wide bet sander. We changed the original belt on the sander last year so I suppose it doesnt owe me a penny for lasting so long. I have a Performax 36 X2 drum sander. For years now I have had the problem with the drive belt not tracking and I am determined to fix it. 4. Adjust the tension of the V-belt between the primary motor and driven pulleys, if necessary. To do this, loosen the two screws in lower belt guard and loosen the pinch bolt located at the back of the motor support casting. In a recent move the entire conveyor assembly for my Performax 22-44 Plus drum sander was dropped. The shaft of the motor that drives the conveyor belt must be be bent because the motor now wobbles around when it is turned on.
